The Northstar Knights 16U AAA and 18U Prep took on Bishop College School from Montreal, Quebec this past weekend. In addition to playing Bishop, the Knights hosted and partnered with Minnesota Special Hockey to raise money for the program that featured an auction of special Knight’s jerseys, Northstar gear packages, golf bags and local business gift cards. In total, the Knights raised over $5,500 for Minnesota Special Hockey. “I thought it was really cool how we got to see first hand the difference we were making this year and to see how the people appreciated it so much,” said 18U Assistant Captain, Cooper Fredicks. “It was super fun working with the special hockey kids out on the ice and seeing how much they love the game just like we do.”

For their games, the 16U Knights won both games by a combined score of 21-6 while the 18U Knight played much tighter games, losing 6-5 in a shootout on Saturday but then rebounding with a 4-3 shootout win. Tyler Dahms, Evan Leden, and Jacob Peterson each exploded for 4 points each on Saturday afternoon and Dahms, Ben Likness and Jake Spraetz tied for the team high of 3 points on Sunday morning. Merik Grinaker and Stefano Carranza both led to great victories in net. Kaleb Pitman, Caleb Elfering, Dawson McCann and Nathan Huntington each had a goal and an assist while Noel Friedman stood strong in net on Saturday night. Landon Dauner, Jake Lundeen and Dawson McCann all scored on Sunday to bring the game to yet another shootout. Bronson Hunt scored the lone goal while Beck Lidén slammed the door shut on all 3 BCS attempts to win the game for the Knights. “This was a great opportunity to serve others by getting involved with Minnesota Special Hockey Jamboree,” said coach Dallas Steward. “Our players displayed servant leadership. Coming off of Christmas break, they played with commitment and showed passion for the game.”

The Knights travel to Omaha, Nebraska this weekend for the Lancers Showcase where both teams will take on the Nashville Jr. Predators, New Jersey Rockets, and Chicago Mission. Stay tuned tomorrow for a tender signing announcement!
