Northstar Knights 18U Prep forwards Celeb Elfering, Cooper Fredericks and Jake Lundeen have signed with junior teams for next season. Elfering, a Richland, Washington native will get the chance to play closer to home next season as he signed with the Wenatchee Wild of the BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League). Fredericks and Lundeen will continue on being teammates next season as they both signed with the Notre Dame Hounds of the SJHL (Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League).

“Congratulations to the Elf, Coop and Jake on getting recognized by junior teams for next season”, said 18U coach, Tim Jackman. “I also want to congratulate the two Junior organizations on getting Godly young men who will serve, be great teammates, and bring a tremendous work ethic to their teams and their communities.”

After ranking 4th on the 18U Knights team last season in points (22-40-62), Caleb Elfering has led the charge on offense this year registering 57 points (28G, 29A) in only 37 games played. His 28 goals and 57 points rank first on the 18U Knights and will be a welcomed offensive weapon for the Wild next season. “First off, I would like to thank Northstar and the coaching staff here for helping develop me on and off the ice,” Elfering said. “I would also like to thank God and my family for this blessing to go play for the Wild. I’m very thankful for my youth coaches who have instilled the work ethic in me. I am excited to be a part of the wild family!”

Fredericks has 16 points (9G, 7A) in 31 games played and has been a force around the opposing goaltenders net the entire season. Unfortunately Fredericks suffered a lower body injury last weekend that will sideline him for the majority of the rest of the season but he is still an integral part to the 18U Knights leadership team as an assistant captain. Like every Knight player, we know Fredericks will bounce back stronger than before and will be a tremendous addition to the Hounds. “I would like to thank God for allowing me the opportunity to continue my hockey career”, Fredericks said. “I would also like to thank my family for supporting me through the years as well as my coaches and I look forward to continuing my hockey career up in Canada.”

Lundeen has totaled 22 points (10G, 12A) in 33 games played. He ranks first on the Knights in even strength point efficiency with 95% of his point total coming at 5v5 play and will be a valued member on and off the ice for the Hounds. “I’m very blessed and excited to play in Saskatchewan as a Hound,” Lundeen said. “I would like to thank God, my family, and my coaches as well as Northstar for helping me get this opportunity to play hockey up in ‘hockey country’ to further my career.”

The Knights now have 8 total players signed or tendered with junior teams for the 2023-24 season with Landon Dauner (Aberdeen Wings, NAHL), Brayden Berg (Wichita Falls Warriors, NAHL), Dawson McCann (Steinbach Pistons, AJHL), Bauer Berry (Muskegon Lumberjack, USHL) Brady Jones (Utah Outliers, NCDC), Caleb Elfering (Wenatchee Wild, BCHL), Jake Lundeen and Cooper Fredericks (Notre Dame Hounds, SJHL).
