Reese Laubach became the third Northstar Christian Academy hockey player to commit to a Division I university by announcing he’s headed to Minnesota State University-Mankato.
Laubach joins Jacob Napier (Western Michigan University) and Ben Strinden (University of North Dakota) as Division I commits.
“It’s a dream come true,” Laubach said in a release. “I would like to thank God, my family, friends, coaches and teammates for all of the support along the way. I can’t wait to be a Maverick.”
Laubach is in his first season with the Knights and has 38 points in 30 games. His 12 goals and 22 assists are second on the team in total points. He spent the majority of his youth career paying for the San Jose Jr. Sharks.
“We are excited and proud for Reese for his commitment to play at a great Division I hockey program,” Northstar associate head coach and associate hockey director Rylan Galiardi said. “Reese has the hockey sense, skill and skating to be an impactful college hockey player. However, it is his character and intangibles that make Reese an exceptional teammate and leader.”
“Reese is everything we were told about him before he came to Northstar,” hockey director Rick Randazzo said. “He’s a tremendous player, great leader, highly intelligent and a fierce competitor. Mankato is not only getting a great hockey player, but also a great man.”
