The NorthStar Knights are excited to share that alumni forward Ryan Murphy has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Lake Forest College. The Spring, TX native spent three seasons (2021 – 2024) developing within the Knights program, beginning at the 16U level before advancing to the 18U Prep team for his final two seasons.

Murphy appeared in 46 games for the 2021-22 16U Knights, recording 26 points (7G, 19A) in his first season with the program. He continued to elevate his game at the 18U level, producing 92 points (35G, 57A) across 100 games during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons with the 18U Prep Knights.

A very skilled and high-IQ forward, Murphy consistently made an impact with his vision, playmaking ability, and offensive instincts. During his three seasons with the Knights, he also experienced tremendous growth off the ice, developing into a strong leader and a Godly young man.

Following his time with the Knights, Murphy advanced to the junior level where he competed in the NAHL with the Watertown Shamrocks and later the Chippewa Steel. During the 2025-26 season he also saw time with the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) and the New Jersey Titans, continuing to build experience at the junior level before earning his college opportunity.

Murphy’s commitment marks the 36th Knights player to commit to a NCAA program. The entire NorthStar Knights family congratulates Ryan on his commitment to Lake Forest College. His dedication to growth both as a player and as a man during his time in the program has prepared him well for this next step, and we look forward to watching him continue to represent NorthStar with excellence at the collegiate level.
